Hey everyone! As you may have seen on Alex's last staff blog, @ItzReece and I are going to be taking over the helper applications. Although it's long, if you're seriously considering applying, please read this whole post for some information on applying. We're currently looking for applicants who meet some or all of the following: - Play Skyblock - Live in Australia or close to Australia -Are experienced factions players who are knowledgeable with cannoning If this doesn't apply to you, please do not be deterred from applying, these are simply the sort of staff we are currently in most need of. Now for some tips on how to make a good application. -Don't grab your nearest thesaurus and substitute a normal word for a fancy one. The majority of the time it doesn't make sense and breaks the flow of your writing. -Don't lie. Don't say 'I am active on the forums' when in reality you have 5 posts. I will find out and I will deny your application. -Only answer the question. If it asks what your username is, don't list your alts, don't tell me that you're going to change your username, don't tell me your brother's username. It's a one word answer. -If you've worked on multiple servers only discuss one or two that have had the biggest impact on you/are most reputable. -There is no age requirement, so do not lie about your age. -Aim to play the server for at least a month before you apply, and try to make yourself reasonably well-known before applying. -Be realistic. You're not going to play Skycade for 70 hours a week. How to answer the long question well. The long question has now been changed to: 'In no more than 250 words, explain what you believe the role of a staff member is, and how you have demonstrated that you possess these traits.' This is the deciding question and is how I initially eliminate people. -Your answer needs to be detailed and needs to provide evidence. A bad answer might say 'I believe the role of a staff member is to ensure the rules are upheld'. A good answer would say 'I believe the role of a staff member is to ensure the rules are upheld. I do my best to contribute to this by regularly reporting players on the forums and I have read the guidelines on what offence warrants what punishment.' -Do not copy your application. Plagiarism will be spotted and you will be denied. -Try and think outside the box. I read over 500 applications in one sitting last night, and boring applications which don't capture my attention will likely be denied. Be creative, and try to say something original. -Role of a staff member, not roll. Please. -Use good spelling, punctuation and grammar. Please use paragraphs to separate points. -Try and aim for the 250 recommended words. -Do not bother writing 'thank you for reading my application' -Do not use smiley faces or other informal use of text. You're applying for a role which requires professionalism. -Make sure you know the server you're applying for. For example, we don't screen share, so don't say that the role of a staff member is to screen share. I've followed the guidelines and applied! Great, and good luck. Please take a note of the date you applied. If, after two weeks, you have not heard from me, you have been denied. Please wait another 2 weeks before re-applying. If I think your application is good, I will discuss it with Reece. If Reece agrees, we'll bring your name to the staff team who will give thoughts on your etiquette in-game and on other platforms. If we're still happy to consider you, I will contact you on Skype where we can arrange to have a chat in TS. Good luck! If you have any questions, drop me a PM or ask in this thread. EDIT: IF YOU STEAL AN APPLICATION FROM THE INTERNET I WILL ADD YOU TO A BLACKLIST WHERE I WILL INSTANTLY DENY ANY FUTURE APPLICATIONS.
